The client
Node Building Consultancy is a specialist firm based in the heart of Nottingham, providing expert building surveying and consultancy services across the UK. Their team combines technical expertise with a personable, client-focused approach, and they wanted team photos that reflected exactly that.
The brief
Node approached me looking for a set of professional team photos and natural working shots that they could use across their website, social media, and marketing materials.
They didn’t want anything too stiff or corporate, instead, we went for:
- warm, approachable headshots that still looked professional
- candid images showing the team collaborating
- a visual style that matched their brand personality: modern, friendly, and trustworthy
- photos that showed a real day at the office, not staged stock imagery
The shoot
The session took place on Regent Street in Nottingham, where their offices are based.
We made the most of the location, using a mix of:
Outdoor headshots
The team headshots were shot just outside on the same road as their building, making use of the stunning urban architecture as a backdrop, and benefitting from natural light for a clean, bright feel.
We used a number of different backdrops, not only for variety, but to make it easier to shoot images of new starters, ensuring future team headshots tie in with the collection as a whole. Using the exact same backdrop is risky as if that backdrop changes (for example, a business paints their door a new colour) then any new images won’t match the rest.
In-office working shots
We threw a few images of meetings, discussions, and collaboration into the mix. These are great for helping potential clients to visualise what it’s like to work with you. Plus, people can see how you get along as a team – which is always a good thing.
The focus was on natural posing and genuine interaction rather than overly staged and forced group photos.
The result was a relaxed and enjoyable session – even for those who normally don’t like having their photo taken!
