5 things to consider when thinking about your business in 2021

Are you thinking about your business?

There are literally hundreds of ways you can improve your business. We’ve put together five things we think all businesses should consider when thinking about their business, to ensure you’re on track and getting results.

1 - Your Brand

Does your brand appeal to your ideal client? Could it do with a bit of a refresh?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who is your ideal client?
  • Does your brand appeal to your ideal client?
  • Do you regularly tweak your brand based on feedback?
  • When was your brand first developed?
  • Could it do with a bit of a refresh?

It’s great practice to constantly develop, improve and enhance your brand to ensure it continues to appeal to your target audience and get you results.

Your brand isn’t just your logo, by the way, it’s:

  • how you answer the phone
  • the language you use
  • how you sign off an email
  • the style of visuals you use
  • your written content
  • and much more

So consider everything about your brand.

What can be improved?

2 - Promoting your business

How’s your customer engagement? Are you struggling to translate prospective custom into paying custom?

There are a number of ways in which to promote your business. The challenge is finding which ways work and which don’t. For some businesses, Facebook ads might generate them lots of interest, for others, their attempt at social media ads might fall flat on it’s face. It’s finding what works for you and your business.

Here are a few ways to promote your business in 2021:

  • share the blogs you write
  • share videos of you offering hints and tips
  • ask me to review your website
  • work on your search engine optimisation (SEO)
  • create a free Business Profile on Google Maps
  • review, repurpose and reuse successful images from last year
  • engage in conversation in relevant Facebook groups
  • offer advice during networking meetings
  • discover where you can create a free business listing
  • advertise in a local magazine
There are so many more ways you can promote your business online and offline.

3 - Your content

How effective is your content? Is it clear? Does it resonate with your ideal client?

Content is King. Never forget that! Here are a couple of reasons why content has such a godly and king-like status.

Well written content speaks to your ideal client

Before you can write good content, you need to know your audience. We highly recommend working closely with a copywriter to bring your content to life. Copywriters essentially cast their magic wand on your content and transform it into messaging that’s understandable, appealing and engaging.

We work with a host of copywriters that specialise in so many different areas, so if you’d like a little help, get in touch

Great content boosts your search engine ranking

It’s great content that gets you that all important search engine ranking that we all long for. Don’t be fooled though, you can’t just knock up some content and hope for the best. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a minefield, but do it well and you’ll reap the benefits.

Your content must be:

  • rich
  • relevant
  • clear
  • well written
  • researched

There are many aspects of your content that need to be considered when achieving a better search ranking, including:

  • headings
  • page structure
  • accessibility
  • usability
  • page load speeds
  • and much more

SEO and copywriting go hand in hand and together will help you to promote your business and talk to your ideal client.

4 - Your audience

Who are your audience and what do you they need from you?

We can’t stress highly enough how important it is to know who your audience are.

You need to be asking yourself the following questions:

  • who is your ideal client?
  • what problems do they have?
  • how can you solve them?
  • where can you find your target audience
  • what do they need to know?
  • how do they like to be communicated with?
  • what level of technical understanding do they have?
Why not have a little look at what you’re doing in your marketing, on your website etc. and see how this appeals to your audience. How? Set up a focus group and ask them to give you feedback. You’ll be surprised how many people are willing to help you.

5 - Your business goals

Where do you want your business to be this time next year? What is needed to make this goal a reality?

These are big questions, and in many cases, hard to answer. But it’s good to have some idea as to where you want your business to be this year, in 3 years and in 5 years.

You than think big and figure our what you need to do in your business to be living on an island in Greece in 5 years time, or go smaller and aim to take on 20 new clients this year.

Whatever your goals, we advise that you keep them visible. A constant reminder of what your working towards both personally, and professionally.
